YEAH! the Hitmen win the B division playoffs.
After a tense 23 minutes that featured no scoring. Though, lots of chances both ways.
Our injured goalie came back to play and was outstanding.
Thanks go out to Dennis for putting together a great team this year.
Hopefully everyone will attend next Saturday’s league get together at the Vault.

A very unhappy game!
Our goalie was run and he hit the back of his neck against the crossbar. Went into shock and the ambulance was called. We all hope that he will be alright.
The game was called with 3 minutes left in the second. The game will continue on Thursday with a 23 minute third period.

That was the worst game we have played in a long time.
We really stunk the ag-rec centre up. I am not even going to mention the score. Just let me say that the game was called early due to the 10 point spread rule.
Joe took some photos so I will post those soon.
We will show up tomorrow at 7:30 and play for real.

The physical aspect of the game is heating up.
Last night there were two players ejected from the game.
We did win though, 6-3.
We don’t play until Sunday so that should give us some time to heal.

Well, that was a tough game!
Without the help of our new fans (Joe, Mel and Jim) we might not have won.
Final score: 4-3 in OT for us.
This could be a 5 game series.
Everyone was working hard but our new opponents are much bigger and tougher than our previous foes.
Could be a tough week as we play tomorrow and possibly Thursday.

So, tonight’s game ended with a score of 6-2 in our favour.
That means that the Hitmen won the first round of playoffs.
We start round 2 against the Green Hornets Sunday, 2:45.
It was an unusual start to the game however. The other team didn’t have a goalie so they played with 6 out.
I know it sounds easy to score on an empty net but with 6 guys against our 5 they had lots of passing room.
We ended up scoring 3 goals before the goalie arrived.
According to Dennis this is the furthest that the Hitmen have ever gone in the league.
The team will rest up and come out playing hard on Sunday.

Well, once again most of the team showed up. And those that did played hard.
We opened the scoring this time and held the lead the whole way.
Ended up 6-2. Craig scored just 8 seconds into one of our power plays to get us really pumped up.
The other team was getting a little mouthy when they couldn’t take our teams’ gentle ribbing.
Their fans were even worse. After the last whistle the ref was trying to get them to clear the “ice” and the fans stormed the in. So, the next game looks like it could be a physical affair.
I got Denny to take some “action shots” during the game and I will post them tomorrow.
Next game: Thursday 08:30.

Well, game two went much better than game one.
We actually showed up and played like a team. Didn’t hurt us that there fastest guy had a leg injury and there hardest shot was playing soccer instead.
Their goalie kept the score a lot closer than it should have been. The final score was 2-0.
Game three is tomorrow (Monday). Best of five series so stayed tuned.
Oh, Joe and I drove some balls at the range. I got a new set of clubs so had to break them in.
They seem much better so far.

Well, that was a bad start to the post season. We got so schooled last night. We decided to show up and start playing in the third period. At one point it was 9-0 but, we made a comeback and the final score was 10-5.
We will ride this momentum to win the next two games. Back to back games Sunday and Monday.
With the weather lately it shouldn’t be too long before we can start playing outside again.

Well, we played our last regular season game last night.
Didn’t go as well as we had hoped. We got beaten 6-3.
With this loss it closes out our regular season record at 12 wins, 9 losses and 4 ties. Which means we had 28 points over 25 games. Yeah, we finished better than .500 and first place in the ‘B’ division.
The playoffs start on Thursday so stayed tuned to see how we do.
Looks like there might be another round of golf today. I won’t forget my putter this time.

Well, had the day off today.
The weather was so beautiful that I shot 18 holes of golf at Cheam.
Joe was there as well. He wore shorts. And beat me. He a good game but I will come back and defeat him another time. Plus I forgot my putter and had to use my driver.
Oh well, $5 for 18 holes in the middle of February more than makes up for having a bad day of chipping and putting.
I would put a link to the golf course here. But, they don’t have a web site.

Another tough battle in the ball hockey arena.
We pulled the goalie with a minute left and scored with 20 seconds remaining to tie it at 7.
Overtime began with 4 on 4. It was back and forth or forth and back depending if you are stickler for proper english.
So that’s how it ended. Another OT tie.
We just could not get a bounce to go our way the whole third period. Plus, we were missing 4 of our players.
We play again on Sunday and then on the Thursday to end the regular season.

Well, we played last night and tonight with mixed results.
Last night our whole team was not quite ready to play. We lost in overtime.
Tonight was a lot better. We played hard and won 5-1.
Only 3 more games until the end of the regular season. At this point we will make the playoffs.

So it is the end of January. Time to start thinking about golf again.
So Joe suggested that we go and hit a few balls at the local driving range.
The rain held off and there was no wind so it was quite good.
Haven’t lost too much from last year and Joe can still whack that little ball a long way.

Well, the photo gallery is up.
Not much there yet but will keep adding more as I have time or there are more exciting things to add.

Posted by David in General24 Jan 2005 10:15 pm

Well, we won another game. That makes 7 in a row.
It was close though. We were tied until just over a minute left in the third.
So, an exciting end to a hard fought game. The Wolfpack are a fast team that run a lot.

One of my non computer activities is playing ball hockey. I play in this league.
Check out our team: Hitmen. We are currently number one in the B division.

I took advantage of Joe’s offer and now have my own blog!
